Emmy Awards 2013: Nomination live.
Si è tenuta ieri, 18 luglio 2013, la cerimonia di annuncio delle nomination agli Emmy Awards, ovvero la 65ª edizione degli Oscar della televisione americana. I premi saranno consegnati il 22 settembre. La cerimonia è stata presentata come di consueto in grande stile da Neil Patrick Harris, protagonista di How Met Your Mother, ormai alla sua seconda esperienza, e Aaron Paul, protagonista della serie Breaking Bad, al Theatre di North Hollywood, a Los Angeles, in diretta televisiva dal network CBS.
Saltano subito agli occhi le 17 candidature per American Horror Story, che risulta per il secondo anno consecutivo il programma più nominato, alle calcagne Il Trono di Spade con 16 candidature e Behind the Candelabra con 15 candidature, film per la televisione biografico che racconta la storia d’amore tra il pianista Liberace e Scott Thornson, e che vede protagonisti Michael Douglas e Matt Damon. A quota 15 anche Saturday Night Live, programma di varietà trasmesso ogni sabato in seconda serata sulla NBC.
A guardare le candidature, anche l’arrivo, tra i candidati, di due serie Netflix. Quest’ultima è una società statunitense che dal 1997 offre un servizio di abbonamento Dvd e videogiochi tramite Internet, e dal 2008, anche un servizio di streaming online on demand, accessibile tramite abbonamento. Le due serie che hanno conquistato il pubblico sono House of Cards e Arrested Development. House of Cards è basata sull’omonima miniserie televisiva in 4 puntate, trasmessa dalla BBC nel 1990, che a sua volta è un adattamento di Andrew Davies del romanzo scritto da Michael Dobbs, un ex capo di stato maggiore della sede del Partito Conservatore britannico. La serie vede come interprete principale e produttore esecutivo Kevin Spacey nel ruolo di Frank Underwood, un politico senza scrupoli che mira alla Presidenza degli Stati Uniti. Arrested Development è invece una serie televisiva statunitense prodotta dal 2003 al 2013, ormai giunta alla sua quarta stagione, che racconta le vicende di Michael Bluth, un giovane manager intento a cercare di salvare l’azienda di famiglia dal fallimento. Le prime 3 stagioni della serie sono andate in onda in prima visione negli Stati Uniti dal 2 novembre 2003 al 10 febbraio 2006. La quarta stagione, prodotta a 7 anni di distanza, è stata trasmessa in streaming da Netflix dal 26 maggio 2013. Entrambe le serie hanno ottenuto candidature nelle maggiori categorie, con House of Cards candidata come Miglior serie Drama.
